I am delighted to welcome you to the E.M. Baker School! We are a K-5 school committed to nurturing the academic, social, and emotional development of each of our students. This year, more than 530 children will learn and grow within our school, guided by our caring, capable and highly professional faculty and staff. Baker offers a safe, secure, warm and friendly environment where laughter resonates and smiles abound.
We strive to help youngsters develop the intellectual and social skills that will enable them to navigate through their formative years, and become respectful, responsible and enlightened adults. Toward this end, we:
- teach all curricular areas thoroughly and thoughtfully, carefully adhering to standards set by New York State and the Great Neck Schools.
- construct meaningful learning opportunities which require active student engagement.
- expect and encourage mutual respect and caring behavior, as outlined in our School Code of Conduct, developed by our student government.
- work cooperatively and energetically with our very supportive PTA to extend and enhance our school environment.
- take pride in the way our school looks and functions.
At E.M. Baker, our students come to school with a rich foundation of values, character, respect, and love of learning. We seek to build on that foundation, and we enthusiastically encourage families to be our partners in the educational process.
