The Great Neck Public Schools Board of Education consists of five residents, elected by fellow residents in the annual school district election in May. Each trustee serves a three-year, unpaid term. Terms are staggered, with one or two seats up for election each year. The Board has broad legal powers and responsibilities for determining educational policy, for supervising the administration of the schools, and for levying taxes on properties to support school district operations. The Board's chief executive officer is Superintendent of Schools Dr. Teresa Prendergast.

Recipient of the Lions Club of Great Neck George Carr Humanitarian Award, 2014. Member, Resolutions Committee; and moderator and speaker, Training Clinic, New York State School Boards Association. Past chairperson, United Parent-Teacher Council Legislative Committee. Past chairperson, STOP, a Great Neck community group organized to maintain the quality of education in the Great Neck Public Schools. Managing director, Concurrent Industries Group, a manufacturer of food service equipment and consumer appliances. Faculty member, New School Board Member Training Institute.
