ATTENTION: STUDENTS
GNPS Summer Rec Scholarship Fundraiser
The Great Neck Public Schools Summer Recreation Program is sponsoring a Run-Swim Biathlon as a fund-raiser for the Summer Camp Scholarship Fund. The scholarship fund is intended to provide assistance to families residing in the district who have difficulty paying camp tuition. The event will be held at the South Campus on Sunday, May 20, 2012.
- Students in grades   9 & 10 will swim 200 yards and then run 1 1/4 miles
- Students in grades 11 & 12 will swim 300 yards and then run 1 1/2 miles
Students participating will be required to raise a minimum of $10. in pledge donations.  Awards will be given by gender and by grade level to those students who raise the greatest amount in pledge donations.  The department will make information regarding a training program available to anyone who wants to participate.

Anyone who is interested in Open Campus/Extended Driving Privileges, please contact Dean Passarella in room 327 for requirements and details.  Remember to drive and park safely!  No one should be parked on the mall!

Please see or email Mr. Gottfried to make your Graduation seating selection.  Seniors who do not contact Mr. Gottfried by June 8th will be assigned to their seats arbitrarily.

ATTENTION: SENIORS
It's time to let the Guidance Office know where you plan to attend college.  An email was sent to all Seniors with attached forms so you can let us know where to send your final transcript for the school you have decided to attend.  Please check your email and Naviance account for this email.

The Piano NYSSMA rating sheets are now available.  Please pick up your sheet from Mr. Schwartz in room 309.

There are still Fashion Show DVD's left!  If you want your last chance to see Fashion Show 2012, please see Ms. Burger in room 202.  The DVD's are $25.

Anyone that would like to enjoy poems, artwork and photography from the students at South can pick up the Exit 33 High School Literary and Arts Magazine in the school library!  They are free copies!  Take them home and enjoy!

Female Varsity or JV athletes who have completed their seasons  -  Please hand in your athletic locks to Coach Maher and get checked off.  Also, all lockers in the Varsity locker room in the West Gym must be cleaned out by Friday, May 18th.  Anything left behind will be donated to charity.

ATTENTION: SENIORS
Prom table seatings are being finalized.  Only those who have paid...and returned...their seating forms will be guaranteed their selections.  Bring all forms to Mrs. McGurk.  Don't delay!

Girls Varsity or JV Athletes - Anyone who has not handed in their money for the GVC Banquet needs to see Coach Nesdill as soon as possible!

There is an important Jazz Band rehearsal on Friday, May 18th after school from 2:45 pm to 4:30 pm in room 309.  The concert is May 24th.

Theatre South's Improv Troupe "Hot Lunch" will perform their Spring Show on Friday, May 18th at 7:30 pm.  Admission is $5.00 and refreshments will be served.  Make sure you come early to save your seat for this popular and hilarious event!

For any ninth grade student interested in being a tour guide for 8th grade orientation, please sign up in Guidance if you are interested.  All must attend an after school meeting in the GP East room at 2:40 pm on Tuesday, May 29th or Wednesday, May 30th.  You may choose either day.

Would you like to be a speaker at graduation?  All interested seniors should see Mrs. Imperato in the main office to sign up for the auditions.  The date for auditions has changed.  Auditions will be held on Thursday, May 31st at 2:45 pm in room 306.

Yearbooks have been reserved for all seniors. Purchase yours now for $115. Bring payment to Ms. McClellan in the library as soon as possible.

ATTENTION: STUDENTS
On Wednesday evening, the Boys Track and Field team competed in the Division Championship.  All-Division Honors went to Mitchell P. in the triple jump and Danny M. in both the shot put and the discus.  Personal bests were turned in by Alex C., who ran the mile in 4 minutes, 42 seconds and Joe K. in the 400 hurdles.  The top performance of the day belonged to Sam S.  Sam rant the half-mile in 2 minutes, 1 second enroute being crowned Division Champion for 2012.

ATTENTION: STUDENTS
On Wednesday night, the Girls Track Team competed in the Division Championships.  It was a great run by all.  Congratulations on finishing 3rd place.  What a great season for this team!  Good luck at Counties next week!

ATTENTION: STUDENTS
Congratulations to the Girls Badminton team on their victory against Farmingdale on Wednesday (5-2).  The Lady Rebels are in the semi-finals (top 4 teams in Nassau County) and will be playing Calhoun away on Friday.  Good luck ladies!
